ORANGE WEDDING

Orange Wedding
For me Fall really begins with the color orange in the dramatic changes that happen through nature. Thanks to Kim over at SMP's Style Circle for this one. If you're looking for more inspiration for your big day, her blog, Lilly Lynn Events is chock-a-block full of it . . .

EARLY FALL INSPIRATION

Early Autumn Beauty
Thank you Lauren over at SMP Style Circle for this wonderful Autumn inspiration of leaves and birds, candles and table settings. The Martha Stewart vignette here is especially delightful with an array of dresses in varying autumn shades . . .

PRINT POWER

Printed silks are fast becoming a bridal favorite and who could put it all together like Carolina Hererra this season?  If I had to do it all over again and marry my same wonderful guy, you might just find me in one of these gems. . .

EXPECTATIONS

Some brides are moving into and combining two very important transitions in life, wife and mother all at once. If perchance you are or will be a bride expecting, brace yourself--there are some absolutely gorgeous gowns out there. You'll be impressed to find slick, editorials like these of Mom-to-Be /Brides holding full, rounded tummies. Designers are finally heeding the call for trendy bridal gowns ranging from the most traditional to total ‘edge’.

Maternity dresses are designed with a growing tummy in mind and are cut several inches longer in front.  That means all those great little empires and tents coming off the runway lately won't really work unless you'll be less than five months along in your pregnancy.

GO TAILORED AND MAYBE YOU CAN CHANGE THE COURSE OF HISTORY . . ..

Just kidding.  Grand uncle to Prince Charles, The Duke of Windsor does look eerily similar to his nephew.  Coincidentally, both heirs to the throne changed the British monarchy around a little for the women they loved.  Neither woman was young by the way and both felt more at ease donning some form of tailored look on their wedding day.  Wallis Simpson's low key wedding called for a pale blue crepe suit created by Mainbocher, the American designer who set up shop in Paris in the 1930s.  The skirt was to the floor and cut on the bias. Check out the impeccable detailing on the bodice.
Camilla wore two versions of tailored chic for her wedding; one for the civil marriage ceremony and the other for the service at Westminster.  Both designs were more like  coat and dress ensembles.  While photographers seem to love shooting this woman in the midst of what looks like she's cussing out press, on her wedding day she was so radiant she almost looked 19 again.  Once more she had that young, pugnacious beauty that initially captivated HRH the bachelor prince of  the Mod 1960s.

Shown in her coat and dress ensembles by fav designer, Robinson Valentine.  She recycled the shorter version by wearing it to The National Assembly of Wales in 2007.  Leave it to Camilla to break the tradition of not only wearing a designer ensemble twice, but wedding ensemble at that!

BLING

Abito di Ego‘
Every gown has some sort of adornment that makes it unique whether it's lace, a fabric treatment or jewels. Jewels and jeweled decoration lend a more sophisticated look to a gown . . Swarovski crystals, precious little stones and metallic laces bring character to these simply structured gowns. Adding some bling makes a gown shimmer when caught in a certain light or whenever you move . . .

The intricate work below and at right is a metallic lace strip with jeweled brooches added giving this gown a rich, two-tone texture. Arche
